More details released in Pocatello standoff
Pocatello police have released more information about what happened in Saturday morning's standoff.
Around 7 a.m., a woman told police that Ramon S. Garcia, 26, had showed up at her work two hours earlier, violating a no-contact order in place between the two of them. Garcia was her soon-to-be ex-husband, not her boyfriend as police had earlier stated.
She said as she was approached by Garcia, she saw him carrying a faded black 9 mm handgun on his waist. She said Garcia followed her from work around 6 a.m.
Officers pulled Garcia's car over at the 800 block of Barton Road.
Police said Garcia would not cooperate or follow directions to get out of his car.
Officers called the Pocatello Immediate Response Unit and Negotiators. After multiple failed negotiation attempts, they got Garcia out with "chemical agents" around 10:45 a.m.
Garcia was taken into custody and booked into the Bannock County Jail on charges of felony stalking, misdemeanor violation of a no-contact order and resisting arrest, with more charges pending.
