Madison County Commissioner Kimber Ricks resigns

REXBURG, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - Longtime Madison County Commissioner Kimber Ricks has announced he will resign from the post effective immediately.

In a letter to County Clerk Kim Muir, Ricks called his service one of the special privileges of his life. 

Ricks said he was making the decision based on personal and health reasons.  

"I have deep gratitude to the voters of Madison County; elected officials and county employees;volunteers with whom I have served; the countless people who have worked to make Madison County a better place and especially my family and friends who have worked alongside to help create a better community," said Ricks.

Speaking on behalf of her office, Muir said "Commissioner Ricks has been an incredible Commissioner who has put his whole heart and soul into the County.
We are saddened by his resignation and will miss him dearly, but wish him the best."  

Muir said the county is now searching for candidates to replace him on the Board of County Commissioners. Anyone interested should submit a resume and answer questions listed under "open commission seat" on the county's website. That information is due in by 5 p.m. on January 16, 2018. Candidates must be at least 21, a U.S. Citizen, have lived in Madison County for 1 year and resided in Commissioner District #1 for 90 days. Commission District maps are also located on the Madison County website.

A list of three nominees will be selected by the Madison County Republican Central Committee and submitted to the governor for appointment.
