ROY, Utah (KIDK/KIFI) - A small plane crashed in Roy, Utah along Interstate 15 Sunday afternoon. The plane hit a billboard upon takeoff according to Utah Highway Patrol.

The pilot and a passenger were taken to the hospital according to bystander Tyson Bolkcom, who was one of the first on the scene to help. Local media reported the two in critical condition; one was airlifted and the other was taken by ambulance. A witness helping on the ground was also sent to the hospital for inhaling smoke and fumes, according to another witness.

All southbound lanes of I-15 were closed for several hours. All lanes are now reopened according to UHP.
