Snow dumps across southeast Idaho

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho - Snow and wind closed several schools and roads in southeast Idaho on Friday morning.

The snow seemed to have tapered off, but roads were still icy and drivers were urged to add extra time on getting to their destinations.

The Bannock County Sheriff's Office said a one-vehicle crash occurred on Gibson Jack Road with the vehicle is in the creek. However, Pocatello police said they did not see any accidents in the morning.

The City of Ammon issued a proclamation prohibiting people from parking their cars on the streets from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. so snow could be removed.

Schools in Blackfoot, Pocatello, Fort Hall, Fremont County, and even the Idaho State University campus in Pocatello were closed because of the weather.

Interstate 84 between the I-86 junction and the Utah border has reopened Friday morning after being closed since Thursday afternoon.

State Highway 36 between Preston and Dayton remains closed as of 9:30 a.m. Friday.

People were digging out their driveways and sidewalks that dumped between 2 to 7 inches of snow across the area.
