Teton County, Wyo., puts moratorium on new cell towers
Teton County, Wyo., commissioners have imposed a 105-day moratorium on the construction of new cell towers.
The moratorium approved last week will give the county time to write new cell-tower regulations.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports AT&T has plans to erect more than a dozen new cell towers in the county.
AT&T's lawyer, Bruce Salzburg, told the commission that telecommunications companies have successfully sued municipalities to overturn moratoriums.
But Melissa Wittstruck of the Jackson Hole Conservation Alliance says current county cell tower regulations are outdated and insufficient to deal with modern laws and equipment.
