POCATELLO, Idaho -

A Layton, Utah, man is recovering after a strange crash on Interstate 15 near Century High School early Friday.

Around 6:30 a.m., the Pocatello Police Department received a 911 call from 58-year-old Evan Daniel Frampton. He told a dispatcher he had driven off a cliff somewhere between Pocatello and Utah.

Through further questioning, the dispatcher determined the crash happened somewhere in the vicinity of Century High School. Police and Bannock County Sheriff's officers drove through the area with lights and sirens in hopes the caller would see or hear them.

Pocatello police finally located the 1999 Infiniti I-30 sedan near milepost 65. Police said Frampton had driven into the median, over-corrected, slid off the right side of the road, and went through a right-of-way fence. The car came to rest at the top of a cliff above Hildreth Road.

Idaho State Police said Frampton was transported by ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center. As of Friday afternoon, he had been released from the hospital.
