Utah law enforcement officials say a Layton man who drove his pickup truck up the steps of the state Capitol building was growing marijuana in his home.
The Department of Public Safety says investigators searching the home of 36-year-old Gerald Weston Green on Wednesday found multiple marijuana plants in his basement.
State Bureau of Investigations Capt. Tyler Kotter says Green told investigators he went to the Capitol to promote marijuana legalization.
The Utah Highway Patrol says troopers watched Green's truck climb about two dozen steps Tuesday and park outside the building. He left his vehicle and tried to enter the historic Supreme Court room on the third floor.
Troopers say a Taser did not subdue Green, so an officer punched him in the face.
Green has been hospitalized for injuries and a mental evaluation since his arrest.
