IDAHO FALLS - Justin Trapp's throwing error with two outs in the 9th, and two ensuing bases loaded walks by reliever Nick Graffeo helped the Great Falls Voyagers to a 7-6 comeback win over the Idaho Falls Chukars Tuesday night at Melaleuca Field.
The Chukars took a 6-1 lead after three innings, but the Voyagers battled back to within one run in the top of the 9th. With runners on first and second and two out, Idaho Falls reliever Nick Graffeo induced a ground ball from Rafael Vera of the Voyagers, but Trapp's throw from relatively deep in the hole at short to Malcom Culver at first base was high, and pulled Culver off the bag, allowing the inning to continue. Graffeo then walked the next two batters, Michael Blanke and Jeffrey Tezak, on eight straight pitches, which brought in the tying and go-ahead runs.
Idaho Falls would put a runner on in the 9th, but Cheslor Cuthbert flied out to end it, sending the Chukars to their 8th loss in the last 10 games.
Offensively, both Cuthbert and Geulin Beltra had two hits for the Chukars. Beltre hit his 4th home run of the season in the bottom of the 2nd inning.
On the mound, starter Scott Alexander went 6 innings, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs, and also struck out six.
The Chukars hit the road Wednesday, opening a 7-game road trip against Billings.
