POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - Idaho State University defensive line coach Steve Fifita was placed on indefinite administrative leave Tuesday, according to athletics communications staff, following a July arrest on charges of DUI and possession of an open container.
"Idaho State defensive line coach Steve Fifita has been placed on administrative leave while he attends to personal matters," a release said. The Bengals communications staff said the leave was paid.
According to the Idaho Repository, Fifita was arrested July 28 in Bannock County by officer Jared Bystrom. The repository shows charges of Driving Under the Influence and Alcoholic Beverage - Consume or Possess Open Container by Driver. Both charges are misdemeanors. Fifita paid a total of $800 in bonds, according to the repository.
The repository also shows a, "BAC: .171/.204."
Idaho State's staff told Sports Line Fifita would not be at the Bengals' first fall practice on Friday, adding the length of Fifita's leave is unknown.
