Dealing with the snow

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - While many have been dreaming of a white Christmas, most east Idahoans probably didn't expect something like Sunday's winter storm to hit the area.

With all the reports of terrible road conditions, highways getting shut down, and even just having to shovel your driveway multiple times — it can be very annoying to deal with. However, some in Pocatello took the winter storm in stride and pushed through the headaches.

Whenever the snowfall gets bad, you'll find Mitch Fisher riding his ATV with a plow attached on his street. Plowing the snow off the road to make sure things are nice and clear for his family and neighbors.

"I try to clean my spot and all the neighbors around me so we have a nice area to park and pull in," Fisher said. "Also, hopefully, so no one gets stuck in front of my house."

Around Pocatello Christmas Sunday, the streets were better if more cars rode on them. Inside the neighborhoods, it was easy to find the trails where cars made their way through, or got stuck.

The McKenzie family decided to take matters in their hands and make the snow day a family fun day. The family brought their sleds to a slope near their house.

Lee McKenzie said it was all in the spirit of Christmas.

"Christmas day is all about spending time with family. We got to open our presents this morning and we'll have dinner later, but it's good to have a little bit of fun in between," he said.
