For over 11 years Michael Coats has been forecasting the weather for KIFI Local News 8. Starting out first on the early morning newscast, then promoted to Chief Meteorologist in 2010. Before Local News 8, Michael worked for KIFI's sister station in Palm Springs California. Michael is originally from Hemet California. He attended California State University Northridge, then studied meteorology at Mississippi State University. 

Michael is married to his wife Carissa. They have four children and a dog named Radar.

    Areas of fog with snow flurries will be possible for the next couple of nights and mornings. The fog and low cloud cover is thanks to a ridge of high pressure and our inversion returning.
