WEST YELLOWSTONE, Mont. (KIFI/KIDK) - A 21-year-old Bozeman woman was arrested after police found her in possession of a stolen van.
A resident reported their mini-van stolen from a business in Wilson, WY Thursday around 9:30 a.m.
Police report the keys were left in the vehicle that was taken overnight.
When deputies entered the van into the National Crime Information Center database, within minutes dispatch received a "delayed hit confirmation," meaning a police agency had run the plate prior to it being reported stolen.
It turns out West Yellowstone Police stopped Kaylee Graveley earlier in the day driving the stolen van.
Graveley was arrested on unrelated misdemeanor warrants and taken to the West Yellowstone Police Department.
She was able to post bond and was released and taken back to the van.
WYPD had no idea the van was stolen as it had not been reported yet, and the driver had the keys.
Another hit was received indicating a Big Sky, MT Police Officer had run the plate approximately two hours later.
BSPD officers were provided information on the suspect and vehicle and returned to the area where they located Graveley still in possession of the stolen van and arrested her.
Graveley is being charged with possession of a stolen vehicle in Montana and charges of felony auto theft are pending in Teton County, WY.
Police say nearly all auto thefts reported in Teton County involve keys being left in vehicles, so please, never leave your keys in your vehicles.
