Museum of Idaho is wrapping up new renovations and exhibit

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - A whole new world is set to open up to us at the Museum of Idaho in Idaho Falls.

Renovations and a new dinosaur exhibit at the Museum of Idaho are almost complete for Saturday's planned opening.

"It's huge because it is the first exhibit in the new expansion," Director of Exhibitions at the Museum of Idaho Rod Hansen said. "We just felt like the stars were aligned quite well and we were going to be able to host this exhibit for the reveal of the expansion."

Technology is a big feature in the new exhibit. They have multiple, touch-screen boards throughout the new area.

"You've come at a time when we are in the middle of set-up," Co-Curator of Darwin and Dinosaurs Exhibition Angus Carroll said. "So it is pretty wild right now. We got people doing all sorts of things. Setting up cases, you can't see there, we are setting up a big video board."

The video board is one of the biggest in the country but Carroll believes a giant Pterosaur will steal the show

"Well I think the big thing is going to be this giant Pterosaur," Carroll said. "It's a mind-boggling size. To think that flew is almost unimaginable."

What is imaginable is the museum is able to feature larger exhibits for the community.

"It's just expanded the possibilities for the museum," Hansen said. "The museum has become through the years an intricate part of Idaho Falls and Southeast Idaho"

The ticket prices will remain the same ($12 for adults and $10 for kids) and Governor Brad Little will be there on Friday for the invitation-only VIP grand opening.
